I think that you've hit the nail on the head. I agree with everything you say mate. I think the easiest solution would be a simple content filter option in the game. It's really that simple. If your underage content filter goes on. If your above age you can turn it off. I mean, who's to blame? Parents complaing to the company that there kid who's underage decided to turn the content filter off? I mean parental lock? Along with RATING the downlaodable content I mean. This DOES cost money. This IS coming from someone's credit card or someone with enough cash to go out and buy the cards and the xbox live time. Doing this by themselves at the age of 13? Jeeze I got an hour of internet a day at that age.... and im 19 now...

None the less to one there own I guess, but like I stated before I think you hit the nail on the head man.

I must say I don't find the fact that these lyrics are censored surprising (I understand they are not profane words but it's one blond short of a penthouse letter) what I am surprised at is that the option to download unedited content (At a high price ofc) isn't available...

But yeah these lyrics could easily send the rating from T for Teen to AO for Adults Only... Look up the games that have AO ratings on the ESRB other than a few exceptions they all have "for Strong Sexual Content" in their reasons. So the more lewd parts of this song were edited... and it was mainly words or phrases you would never hear on television either. (I defy you to find an example of "Creamy Beaver" used in broadcast television) And having to recall all current units and mark them AO just so some die hard fans can score points for singing "creamy beaver" seems kinda stupid.

And for those of you who don't believe that one song can change the rating and/or sales of a game we'll talk about it over "hot coffee" as I download the "skin mod" for Oblivion

complain complain complain complain

The folks at Rock Band were innovative enough to relicense nearly all the tracks from the first game and allow you to expand your song library for a measly 5 dollars. We are 4 generations into Guitar Hero and I cant count how many time I have said "I wish I could play the tracks from Guitar hero 1 again". Harmonix knew that feeling and took it upon themselves to offer as much content carryover as possible. They should be applauded, not the focus of snide comments from a consumer who apparently doesnt appreciate the effort.

Regarding the censoring. Its not in Harmonix's best interest to release uncensored versions of songs. The game is marketed as an experience for multiple players, including the very likely scneario of a family playing. Why would they then walk away from their business model and offer songs that REQUIRE the singer to swear/use explicit phrases? Harmonix would not only be blindly walking into controversy, but they would be setting the trap upon themselves... not to mention the potential issue of a game recieveing a certain rating from the ESRB and then releasing DLC that warrants changing of said rating.

Besides, its +10 cool guy points if you fill in the blanks with the swears cause you actually know the song, e.g. Creep by Radiohead, Damnit by Blink 182 ...
