Potential Designs

The design process at SplitReason has been for the most part done in a closed box – what I mean by that is that most designs don’t get more than two pairs of eyes looking at them. Decisions on what to put into production are pretty much confined to the collective wisdom or in the case of poor selling designs collective ignorance of Brian and I. Often times there are disagreements on which designs belong in the “people are going to laugh at us” vs. “this design is going to make us rich” pile.

Since this blog, according to our crack team of statistician dwarves receives a few thousand visitors every week, we decided to share some “Potential designs” with you in hopes of getting some feedback, be it good or bad. Check them out below, and make sure to let us know what you think by using the comment system. We’ll try and throw some new designs for feedback once a month or so.

I really like the Fatal Exception and Mac ‘n’ Cheese designs, personally. I like the concepts behind the other shirts, but the executions feel a little bit…I dunno, corny, maybe? They just don’t seem to fit in with the simple, polished image that SR (I find) fosters.

#1: Nice idea, but the take-out container needs to be more realistic. Right now it looks a bit like a ducument-envelope hybrid.

#2: Not my kind of thing, but kind of cute. Or disgusting, if that’s more what you expect me to say.

#3: How about upgrading your Mac? Other than that it is pretty good.

#4: The light saber needs a shave! Or has Chewbacca become a Jedi, and let Tux borrow his weapon?

#5: Good idea and a good drawing. I still wouldn’t wear a shirt with a gnome on it, but that’s just me.

#6: Very good, though I think the “Clothing Company” part of the design is a bit too white, too in-your-face, or just too much for the otherwise subtle design.

#7: Also very good though it gives me the creeps. Don’t know why, but I think a “Segmentation Fault” or “Core Dump” design would do the same…

Gnome one is the best, by far. The rest are okay, at best.
